Best Way to Earn with Affiliate Marketing
The best way to earn with affiliate marketing, is to work to, and follow a proven system. In this article I will take you through the mechanics, example, timeframe and numbers and system showing you how to make a full time income with affiliate marketing, going from $0 – circa $80k (£60k) per year, over a 12 month plan.
Before We Start
I don’t know you. I have no idea on your work ethic, your background knowledge or skillsets. The level of your understanding of business, the online world etc. Nor do I know what your commitment is, your desire to succeed and the time you will invest in your online business.
Because of that I can not guarentee your success, or that the plan will work for you and how much you will earn. My plan is an illustration for you. You may choose to follow it, or use the basis of the plan with other Affiliate products that might be better suited to your niche and subject. If so, just swap out the commission numbers to your own and you will find what you need to do.
However, I came to all this with no previous experience in this field and much later in life after a job loss. Basically I am saying, based on my experience, If I can Earn an Income online with Affiliate Marketing, anyone can.
A little about me. After a Life change owing to my employment ending I had to decide what to do, and quickly. I was in my late 50’s and realised that I would not get a similar position, at a similar salary, that my previous employment offered.
I turned to opportunities that appeared online, and a long story short (you can read more about me in my bio profile here) I quickly found, at a cost of time and money, what does work, what doesn’t work and what to avoid when starting a business online.
Currently I have built and run an Online E-Commerce Store, with dropshipping as well as run various bloggs and articles that make commissions online with Affiliate Marketing, taught by Wealthy Affiliate.
My experience, starting from scratch, hopefully can help you too, to get on the way to your first commissions and Earnings online.
The Best Way to Earn with Affiliate Marketing
The best way to earn with affiliate marketing, in fact to succeed in any venture, is to work to, and follow a proven system.
Affiliate Marketing, as a business model is growing globally at a phenominal rate.
In short terms, you can get paid a commission, by a company, for recommending one of their products, to someone, that then goes on to purchase that product.
To Give you an example, let us imagine that you are promoting products in the travel Industry. One of your companies is a cruise line and you earn on affiliate sales.
Payout percentages vary widely from 1% up to 50% across cruise affiliate programs. Generally, branded cruise lines themselves pay lower commissions, around 2%-5%.
So, in this example, the average Cruise booked (average, there are higher bookings) is $1,500 per person, for 7 Nights.
If you are earning say 4% commission, at this basic average cruise rate, you will earn $60 per sale via your affiliate link. I want you to picture making just ONE sale a day.
Doesn’t sound like much, right?
But, that equates to $1,800 per month (£1,300)

The 12 Month Plan to Earn circa $80k (£60k) per Year
I have broken this plan down in small chunks based on your first 1 – 3 Months, 3 – 6 Months, 6 – 9, and finally 9 – 12 Months.
This plan is going to use the Wealthy Affiliate Program, where you will earn affiliate commissions when people join the Wealthy Affiliate through your links.
Wealthy Affiliate is a state of the art, stepbystep training platform. For newbies and advanced marketers alike. They focus their training, teaching and platforms to help people with how to create a successful, long term business within the online space.
The Commissions Wealthy Affiliate Pay are:
On someone joining PREMIUM yearly You receive $235 Recurring (that means each year upon them renewing – you also receive it
On someone joining PREMIUM PLUS yearly You receive $320 Recurring (that means each year upon them renewing – yes, you also receive it
(remember though, you can choose any product you like, just swap the commission numbers about to give you your earnings and what you need to do to earn it)
For this example and to keep the maths simple, I am going to take it that People only join Wealthy Affiliate through your links at the Premium level, earning you $235 each time they do.
(The reality is that some join at Premium and some join at Premium plus, oh and some quit...that’s just life so by taking Premium only we average this out
Step 1. Your First 3 Months
You are starting from zero. So your First month is to get the basics right and in place. And in becoming an affiliate Marketer you need to get your business in place.
Month 1
You need to have your Business idea ready, Your Subject sorted and a website in place, ready to go. Also you need to be a sponge, and absorb as much information, and How to… ideas, tips and trainings that you can.
Because of this groundwork you will earn $0 in your first month.

Months 2 – 3
As you start to publish your themed articles, with your links to Wealthy Affiliate, your task is to build your base so that in Month 3 you are getting 1 person joing Wealthy Affiliate a week, at the PREMIUM LEVEL which to you is $235 Affiliate Marketing Commission
1 Person per week @ $235 Commission to You = $940 per Month (£710)
Step 2. Months 3 – 6
This is now where you start to get better with your articles, you are looking at your analytics on Search Engine Optimisation and also fine tuning your existing articles. Your website is gaining some traction, and by the fact you are out there online, and being consistent you now have, by Month 6, 2 people a week joining.
2 People per week @ $235 Commission to You = $1,880 per Month (£1,400)
Step 3. Months 6 – 9
At this point You want to look at scaling your business to grow your Income. You will now be looking at further online growth. to do this you may opt to:
- Look into Paid Advertising
- Grow your brand on Social Media Channels
- Scale your profile
- ADD Further and other Affiliate Links to products to your content. (But lets just keep to Wealthy affiliate for this example)
you will be looking at 3 to 5 people a week joining, and you earning commissions on each one.
3 People per week @ $235 Commission to You = $2,820 per Month (£2,100) = $33,840 per Year
5 People per week @ $235 Commission to You = $4,700 per Month (£3,500) = $56,400 per Year.
This on it’s own is a serious Part Time (or in some cases Full Time) Income. Think of what extra you can do, just by building this level of commissions as a part time cash flow
- Invest in Property
- Put towards Holidays/Cars
- Help with Kid’s Education
and more…
Step 4. 9 – 12 Months
You now are in a position to consolidate and build further. You scale higher and faster and re invest into further ads, social media reach, and new platforms.
You build to 7 people a week joining the community.
Your Earnings now
7 People per week @ $235 Commission to You = $6,580 per Month (£4,950)
or
circa $80k (£60k) per Year.
Going forward you will look at securing your base and using this as a sprinboard into your second year. Not everyone will renew after year one, so its important to keep your activity going. However, if only 50% renew, you will still be looking at a reasonable part time income.
